OK, I did not get any deer.
Mike got 2, Dallas 2, Matt 1
Here is a picture looking down to the cabin from the McGough's main house. The lake is 60 acres of new man-made lake. It is stocked with game fish and the ducks seemed to like it too. The house was incredible. Mr. And Mrs. McGough were very gracious hosts.

These are a few of the weapons we had on hand. My rifle is the closest, and yes, that is a Bushnell Elite 420 scope with a Firefly Reticle. ( The rifle is a Woodsmaster 740, so basically it is a $400 scope on a $200 rifle.)
Mike Boland is using a Chinese SKS shooting at targets 300 plus meters away. The SKS' were amazingly accurate and a blast to shoot. My drill sergeants lied to me about how dependable they were.
Dallas and Matt curling up together near the fire. This was pretty much the way they were the whole time. They seem very close. They finished each others sentences and there seemed to be a gentle understanding between the two of them.
Dallas demonstrating his off road skills. (Notice the solid land 4 feet to his left. There is about 300 feet of bone dry field over there.)
It would be safe to assume no one is going to ask Dallas to bring the potato salad to the next mensa picnic. He also locked the keys in the truck.
Mike's buck. He was the happiest I ever saw him. You would have thought he shot a large buck like mine the way he was acting. We estimated the weight at 120. For Alabama that is respectable. Whatever. Curly is gutting the deer. Curly was as nice as a person you would want to meet.
Here we are eating Mike and Dallas' deer. It was delicious. Mike grilled it perfect. Dallas made a salad and folded the napkins to look like swans.
Mike is fairly drunk in this picture.
That was the best meal of the trip. When you visit the south you eat well. I had a massive gall bladder attack a week later. I am sure Jimmy Dean sausage did not help. Poor health has never been so tasty.

Here is a man's deer for comparison. Pay particular attention to the thick luxurious coat and massive size. The weight was 187. Gutted. Blood all drained. In freezing cold (-7) weather miles from the nearest porch. Ranger snipers studied my amazing shot to help improve accuracy. The carcass from this deer proved the lone gunman theory. It was once thought this type of perfection was only possible from the alien in the movie Predator. This beast would have owned Alabama.
